2. Contact UC Berkeley & Project Funders - contact Berkeley Chancellor Robert Birgeneau at (510) 642-7464 or email him here. Tell him to build the athletic center at one of the alternative sites instead of destroying rare, ancient, and beautiful oaks.
3. Action Alert Network - If the University raids Memorial Oak Grove again and then tries to cut down the trees, it is critical that we have everyone immediately come out to the grove to show their support and act as witnesses – if you would like to be notified of a raid by our action alert network, get updates, & ways to help, please click here..
Together,, we can convince UC Berkeley that instead of destroying a rare grove of coast live oaks with a new athletic center, they should look to other suggested sites that won't replace one of Berkeley's hidden natural jewels – Memorial Oak Grove. Thanks so much for your support For the Trees (and the bigger picture of preserving our planet).
Directions to the Grove: Berkeley (CA) Memorial Oak Grove is at the corner of Bancroft Way and Piedmont Avenue. Walk 20 feet north on Piedmont, and the grove is on the right hand side. Map & directions available at: SaveOaks.com
If you can visit the site links above, you will find an extensive list of supporters (including the city council, Landmark Preservation, etc.), Organizations, current updates...etc. Today, three women aged 70+ through age 90+ that have climbed the trees to join the tree sitters.
